Secret Anguish

The only conclusion to reach when a woman finds in the pocket of her husband's jacket, a letter that describes another woman as everything to him, is infidelity, and that was exactly what Mary believed and every other event following that discovery occurred on a path that was leading to the breakup of her marriage to Steve.

They were supposed to be the perfect couple who understood the magnitude of the marriage institution and how to preserve it, as the wife is a marriage counselor in church. But Mary soon realized it was easy to give counsel when one is standing on the outside.

The lives of two married couples and several other singles were portrayed in the ‘Secret Anguish’ by Kemi Odutayo, as she presented issues many Christians deal with in private.

This Christian fiction touched on issues such as jealousy, bitterness, anguish, dealing with in-laws, getting too emotionally attached to someone other than one’s spouse, desperately searching for a husband and compromising to get results which most times do not work out, committing one’s life to God and trying to resist the temptations of the world etc. showing that even Christians are not immune to what non believers are faced with. In her book, Odutayo presented the only way by which all such issues can be correctly resolved.

The ‘Secret Anguish’ is a story that almost anybody can relate with. It promotes proper communication in relationships that can prevent cracks. Apart from being Christian fiction, it is a very entertaining book that book lovers will find appealing as the reader can easily understand the reality of the problems that occurred.
